Research Committee's Mission

The Research Committee promotes research among librarians in the State of NJ.  It does so by sponsoring two juried events each year.   Each is tied to the NJLA Conference Research Forum held at the NJLA Annual Meeting each April.  The Research Award honors a New Jersey librarian by presenting a monetary award for the best published research from the previous year. The Research Forum winners present their work-in-progress as a short talk at the Research Forum.  The Research Committee remains dedicated to seeking ways that support and encourage sharing information about research projects on a wide variety of topics from all types of libraries.
 
The Research Committee is the joint committee of NJLA's College & University Section and the NJ Chapter of ACRL.  As a committee of CUS, we provide opportunities for academic librarians to become actively involved in projects, professional development activities and in the general development of the academic organization.

Cathy Weng, Head of Cataloging, and Jia Mi, Electronic Resources/Serials Librarian, of The College of New Jersey Library won for their article "Revitalizing the Library OPAC: Interface, Searching, and Display Challenges," published in Information Technology and Libraries, v. 27, no. 1 (March 2008).

Interested in becoming a member? The Research Committee welcomes all librarians, academic/public/private interested in library research and publishing. To join the committee, contact any member for information or just come to our next meeting:

 

  • Join us at NJLA  Annual on  Wed. April 29, 2009 for the Research Forum, 2:30pm.

  • Next regular meeting will be in late September, 2009.  Please join us.
