Minutes March 12, 2009LGBTI Round Table Minutes March 12, 2009 Meeting Attendance: Enola Romano, Saleena Davidson, Allan Kleiman, Kristin Cancellieri, & Christine Matteo(on meebo). Survey Project -- Members discussed having a survey available during the Infolink LGBT Workshop. Everyone agreed it would be a great way to find out what members are looking for from both the Round Table as well as with regard to LGBTI issues. Alan & Nola offered to put together a short survey for the program. NJLA Conference -- Our program will be held on Tuesday, April 28 at 1:30 pm Sarah Brannen will be signing from 2:30-3 pm. Unfortunately, Bobbie Combs will not be signing as her books will not be reprinted in time for the conference. Volunteers are needed to serve as a greeter for this program. Interested? Email Nola (enola.romano@bccls.org). Also, if you are interested in helping with publicity please email Nola as well. Allan offered to help with the regional library cooperatives and Kristin offered to share information with the Drexel library school community. Submissions should be sent to Christine Matteo (cmatteo@theoceancountylibrary.org) Categories for submissions are: 1) Collection Development Resources 2) Archival Collections & Special Library Collections 3) Programming Information 4) General – Adult 5) General – Children & Teens Infolink Workshop -- Wednesday, June 10 – 10:00 am to 3:30 pm @ Rahway Public Library (co-sponsored by LGBTI-RT) Confirmed speakers include H. Jack Martin and James Murdock; co-authors of the book, Serving Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Teens; Alan Kleinman (older adult services); Leslie Kahn (collection development); Ocean County Library (programming); and Joe DaRold (GLBT Film Festival). NJASL is actively seeking proposals for their annual conference in November 2009. Nola and Saleena agreed to send in a proposal to talk about LGBTI Teen Literature, Fic & Non-fic and why it’s important for schools to carry these titles. National Diversity in Libraries Conference is also calling for proposals for the July 14-16, 2010 Conference. Proposals are due October 2, 2009. The conference planners would love to be able to offer a variety of programs for academic, school and public libraries. Submit proposals by email (Word document or PDF attachment) to ndlc2010@Princeton.EDU; please also direct questions about the conference to this address (you will be required to confirm that you are sending a message to this email address). Good of the Order – Ocean County Library will be having Dr Lee Ann Etscovitz doing a program on transgender issues for their staff development day. OCL will also be at NJ Pride on Sunday, June 7, 2009 (noon to 7pm) so plan to stop by the OCL table and say hi. Next meeting will be May 21 and elections will be taking place on that day. We need people willing to volunteer for either the Chair or the Secretary for the Round Table. Interested persons should email Nola (enola.romano@bccls.org).
