The User Education Committee is a subcommittee of the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries and the College and University Section of the New Jersey Library Association. The function of the committee is to promote information literacy as an educational goal, and to support the development of, and pursuit of excellence in library user education programs. The committee produces professional development programs on teaching and learning in libraries, disseminates information about information literacy and user education, and serves as a forum for the discussion of issues relating to information literacy. |

Important Policy Initative
The User Education Committee and the VALE Shared Information Literacy Committee are committed to a joint effort to promote the inclusion of information literacy in the curriculum. The Progression Standards for Information Literacy are designed to provide educators in NJ with a common framework for planning general education programs that prepare students to conduct research and manage information. The Progression Standards are intended especially as a tool for easing the transition of students from the Community Colleges to Baccalaureate programs.
For more information about the Progression Standards, visit the page of the Progression Standards Task Force,.
