Keynote speaker is Robert Lackie, Professor-Librarian at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ

Keynote topic is "Advocacy, Collaboration and Communication: Connecting Reference Librarians, Now and in the Near Future"

 

Session A

A1 eSummit Review and Looking into the Future of eBooks will be delivered by David Lisa, Library Development Bureau at NJ State Library

For those who missed the State Library's eSummit conference in July, David will be offering a summary covering the eBooks landscape from the legal, software, product development and library perspective with a special look at where we're headed.

 

A2 Behind the Scenes w/ the Folks Who Bring You Digital Books in NJ is a look at what the hard-working member of the consortia do to keep the books downloading.  We'll have representatives from LibraryLinkNJ, LMxAC, DigitalLibraryNJ talking about negotiating contracts, collection development, grappling with logistics and making policy and ultimately, keeping a thriving service afloat.  And remember, each consortia is different.  If you're a member or looking to get involved w/ eBooks and eAudiobooks, this panel is for you.

 

A3 Ways to Mobilize Your Library (w/ Mobile Apps) is a panel discussion offered by members of the IT section on actual, real mobile apps in use at libraries here in NJ and how they are extending service offerings and reaching a new audience 

 

Session B

B1 Librarians Do That?: a panel discussion promises to be a lively conversation about the gap between what we actually do and what people think we do as well as what we should be doing.  Join super-librarians Leslie Kahn, Dale Spindel and Karen Klapperstuck to listen and share.

 

B2 Buried Treasure of the Carribbean: Digitizing a Hidden Library Collection...yes, that's the full name that didn't fit on the flyer.  Join Rutgers MLIS student and Reference section student rep Miraida Morales in a discussion of what she did on her summer intership at the National Library of Puerto Rico and how she dealt w/ the complex questions of what to include and how to include it.

 

B3 Reading Bytes: Online Tools for Readers' Advisory is a panel discussion of the Readers' Advisory Roundtable...they'll be sharing some choice tools for online RA

 

Session C

C1 Developing Your Personal Learning Network will be offered by Nicole Cooke of Train the Trainer reknown and will cover how to stay up to date and cut through the information pile w/ some valuable resources

 

C2  Reaching Millenials and Gen Xers w/ Library Services will be offered by Allan Kleiman who will tell us what we can do to reach these important populations

 

C3 Google+ How Libraries can Use Next Gen Social Networking will be covered by John LeMasney who will tell us about this new, much-anticipated tool from Google, how it extends the capabilities of current tools like Facebook and how we can use it to improve our communications and services
